One area where the tech and gaming spaces are very predictable is that they will always evolve; what is a popular platform or channel now is not likely to have the same market share in five years. In 2009, you may have focused on MySpace and told people about it with your Motorola Razr phone. To succeed in this environment, you not only need to build products that take advantage of new platforms, but your entire strategy also needs to leverage this evolution.
Most marketing and product strategies are currently centered on Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest, but WhatsApp may be the next major platform to outpace them. Facebook obviously thought so, as they spent $19 billion for the company, so it is important to be proactive and leverage the WhatsApp platform to grow and sustain your company. Moreover, many of the techniques applicable to WhatsApp can also be used with its competitors, such as Tencent’s WeChat. WhatsApp can help boost retention and growth.
WhatsApp for growth
WhatsApp is a powerful platform to connect with potential customers and increase conversion. By incorporating WhatsApp in your advertising and content marketing, you give potential users an opportunity to interact with your sales team. You can also use WhatsApp to post updates about your company, disseminate new product features or versions, display advertisements, share videos and pictures, organize events, etc. You can also integrate WhatsApp services with your overall branding strategy for effective brand positioning and management.
WhatsApp for retention
With WhatsApp, you can enhance the features of customer relationship management (CRM) by sending out quick updates on lead follow-ups, addressing customer queries, sending out proposals and finalizing deals. You can also answer users’ question and concerns, point them to new features and resolve complaints before they escalate into dissatisfaction. It gives a way for customers to reach you directly without needing to provide or rely on telephone support.
WhatsApp for internal productivity gains
You can manage your salesforce and marketing teams, whether they are local or remote, with WhatsApp. Communication is instant and you can form groups to interact, discuss issues and share customer updates, no matter what your geographical location. Your teams need not be restricted to email notifications on customer meetings, lead follow-ups, new launches, bug fixes, etc; you can effectively use WhatsApp to get instant updates, alerts and other important business to them immediately on the phone they are constantly checking.
- With technology constantly evolving, you need to always be looking for new platforms and channels to reach and service customers. WhatsApp is likely the next big platform.
- You can use WhatsApp for growth by incorporating it in your user acquisition and then using it to respond to potential customers.
- WhatsApp is a potentially valuable retention tool, as it can help you engage users for support , send new offers that reactivate users and drive users to your product or game.

Hi Lloyd, maybe you know something I don’t, but I thought Whatsapp didn’t have any mass-texting and/or other business tools available?
I use groups and just have multiple groups.
